About
I started CubingClubs UK with the goal of providing a directory of different cube clubs and groups throughout the UK, as well as providing support for those seeking to set up new clubs with the resources and advice on how best to do it.
I first learned to solve a cube at the age of 10 but only began to get significantly faster when I went to secondary school and met other cubers and got my first decent speedcube. It did not take long until we had set up a cubing club at school and were introducing speedcubing to other students. While others lost interest, I remained interested in speedcubing and kept practicing, I set up the club again each year with the goal of introducing speedcubing to the new set of students who joined in year 7, one of whom is still cubing today and has actually beaten me in many events now.
Since leaving secondary school, cubing has grown even more in popularity, there are far more frequent competitions around the UK but many people continue to attend only one competition and then never come back, and I suspect many more lose interest well before ever coming to a competition.
The goal of CubingClubs UK is to provide the opportunity to prolong interest in cubing by having regular activities and cubing clubs around the UK. Clubs can help people become more interested in cubing and not be overwhelmed by the whole competition scene which is usually held in a big sports hall or events centre.
I also run speedcubing.org which is one of the UK's largest speedcube stores and suppliers of twisty puzzles, speedcubing.org has over 300 5* reviews on Trustpilot and is well known in the community across the UK. This gives me the inventory and also the knowledge of various speedcubes so you can be assured that I don't supply bad speedcubes, only cubes that I can achieve good times on. I don't intend to stock a huge range of puzzles here, just the puzzles and accessories that are most relevant to cubing clubs, I stock one of the largest ranges of speedcubes on my main website.
